Is Leprechaun Origins (2014) bad?

Leprechaun Origins earned three stars out 10 which is a generous rating. It was interesting enough to watch and there were cute girls but it doesn't really say much. It was so boring. It was your typical movie about a cabin deep in the woods. From the very beginning, I thought this movie was bad. Seeing it just now proved me right. Why did they have the to make Warwick Davis books look (posted here) different? They were loved by many, but this film doesn't inspire any new fans. Instead, the movie is trashed.
